Posted September 08, 2018 10:06:24 This week, ABC News correspondent Mark Taylor sat down with some of Australia’s top doughnut makers and had a chat with the proprietors of some of the country’s best known doughnut houses.

He asked: What are some of your favourite doughnut recipes?

Here’s what we learned.

First up: Andrew Smith, proprietor of Andrew Smith’s Bakery, said the best doughnut in the world is the famous Graham Cracker.

“It’s the perfect combination of all the flavours that you would expect from Graham Crackers and it’s really, really, super, super good,” Mr Smith said.

“It’s really satisfying and really delicious.”

Andrew Smith has also made the best chocolate chip doughnuts in the country, including the most popular Graham Cracking doughnut.

“I’ve got to be honest, the best Graham Crack in the house,” he said.

“You’ll be eating it every day, and then we make a batch, and it tastes really good, and we get to keep it.”

Andrew’s family-owned and operated shop, located at the corner of Mallow Road and Elizabeth Street, is known for its handmade doughnuts and their classic flavours.

“They are always very popular and there’s always something going on in there, and they are always good to go,” he told Mark.

Mark Taylor has had a number of good experiences with Andrew Smith.

“There’s been times when I’ve gone in and asked for a particular recipe, but Andrew has always been very accommodating and he’ll come up with something, even if he’s not happy with it,” he recalled.

“He’s not one to say, ‘Oh, I’ll just give you the recipe, you’ll just have to take it to the shop and make a copy for me’.

He’s very understanding and really good with his staff.”

Mark also loves the chocolate chip versions of Graham Cracks, which are made with a very special chocolate chip coating.

“Graham Crackers are very sweet, and you’ll be able to taste the chocolate in the doughnuts.

They taste very, very good,” he explained.

“And then the chocolate is really, very different.

It’s not a lot like Graham Crabs.

It is more like a chocolate chip biscuit, it’s not chocolate at all.

So, there’s definitely something different about the Graham Cakes, the Graham Cracklins.”

Mark says his family is one of the first to serve him his Graham Crackle doughnuts, and that he always loves them.

“You can’t go wrong with Graham Crash, and I really like it,” Andrew said.

Mr Smith also loves making his own doughnut mix.

“If I have the ingredients right, and if I have enough time and energy, I can make something really special, and make it really good,” Andrew explained.

Mr Taylor said he enjoys the doughnut, too.

“This is my favourite doughnuts I’ve ever had, and the best ones in the land,” he laughed.

Andrew has also had a lot to say about the state of Australian hospitality, with his favourite places to stay and what he’s missed out on while living in Sydney. “

So, it has that special, rich chocolate flavour, which I think a lot of people love.”

“A lot of the things I’ve missed out, I’ve come back and I’ve really missed out,” he reflected.

“When I was there, I missed out a lot, because I couldn’t get a job.

So when I was coming back to Australia, I was looking for work, and as soon as I came back, I couldn, so I ended up going to work in a hotel, and my first job was a cleaning lady, and now I’m doing all these jobs.”

Andrew says he has not had to miss out on any sort of special holiday, and his family has enjoyed holidays with him.

“We’ve had a good time, and a really great time,” he joked.

“Everyone’s happy.

Everybody’s just enjoying the time.”

Mark said he loved being able to travel and see the country from his house.

“As much as we can, we always have a chance to see the world, and what’s happening in Sydney, we’re always happy to be there and have a look,” he shared.
